Bastrop County covers a lot of ground — from the dense tree canopy of the Lost Pines area to open grassland and rolling terrain near Smithville, and everything in between. That physical variety shapes how we design every project.
Older homes and historic character. Bastrop's downtown historic district includes homes built as far back as the late 1800s. Many have narrow hallways, small bathrooms, and high thresholds that reflect the building standards of their era. We work within existing floor plans and are experienced at finding creative solutions that do not require tearing out walls or altering the character that makes these homes special. Where doorway widening is possible, we do it carefully and patch and paint so the finished result looks intentional.
Rural properties and site access. Outside Bastrop and Smithville proper, many homes sit on acreage with long driveways, grade changes, and uneven terrain between the car and the front door. We assess every approach — not just the doorway — and can recommend grading, gravel compaction, and transitional surfaces that make the whole path safer, not just the ramp itself.
Permits. Most structural modifications — ramps over a certain size, doorway widening, shower conversions involving plumbing — require a permit from the City of Bastrop, the City of Smithville, or Bastrop County, depending on where your property sits. We pull all required permits, schedule inspections, and close them out. You never have to navigate that process alone.
Senior communities and HOAs. If you live in Riverwood Commons, Argent Court, or another community with a homeowners association or property management, we have experience working within those approval processes. We prepare the documentation communities typically require and handle communication directly with the management office whenever you prefer.
